The clean-up events organised as part of the Clean Beach programme are voluntary in nature and can be arranged as appropriate for the clean-up site or group in question. We have compiled some important issues to keep in mind when participating in the campaign and organising a clean-up event. To make the process easier, we have also put together a checklist for clean-up event organisers and gathered information on the bird nesting times during the spring and summer.
*Obligation to notify the relevant authorities: Clean-up event organisers are obligated to notify the police about any public event with more than 100 children or more than 200 adult participants. In this case, the event organisers must draw up a rescue plan for the local department of emergency services and deliver the notification of the public event to the local police. For more information, see the websites of the local rescue service and police departments.
We have assisted clean-up event organisers by creating a checklist of factors that are important to remember when endeavouring to organise a successful Clean Beach event.
When organising clean-up events, it would be wise to establish, in advance, the nearest waste disposal stations for all collected litter or the possibility to dispose of the litter in waste bins located at the beaches in question.
If necessary, the programme personnel can help you to figure out the best way to dispose of the collected litter. The clean-up group is primarily responsible for the proper transport and disposal of all collected litter.
